Episode 26

I think I am getting soft hearted. I actually begin to pity Auntie Sa!

Continuing from last episode, Auntie Sa is someone who is not adverse to literally begging. Her daughter refused to speak with her. So when everybody else was gathered to discuss about a family trip (poor Hung! Not included!), Sa appeared much to the unhappiness of everybody who tried to chase her out. Guess who was the one WHO SAID NOTHING? Her daughter, Ka Mei. Sa begged, cajoled, cried, dragged out, everything but Ka Mei just stood there, saying nothing. I know Sa is terrible but Ka Mei's attitude is worse. That's your mom for god's sake! I am not liking Ka Mei one bit whom I feel has no business to be there either.

So Sa went to the toilet, cried her heart out and threw out a confessional letter to the dustbin when she saw Hing. Shamed face, she left and Hing took the letter and gave to Hor Ma and they read.

"Sis, I am sorry. I know how annoying I was, how mean I was and I didn't know how to appreciate all of you. I kept calling Chung stupid, but I was the idiot. I called Yuet Lor Lui when in actualy fact I am the real Lor Lui. I called Hing mute but I have so much to say and yet I couldn't, I am the real mute girl. I am a total failure. Even my own daughter refuses to acknowledge me. I am now renting a room in a motel, sis do you remember the motel opposite the club I was once cheated to work at? The motel is still there but the club is gone. At night I would sit on the bed, looking ahead outside the window and the club is now a church. I could see the cross facing me and I feel the worse remorse. I cried myself to sleep, I cried myself for being so stupid, and I did something I have never done before; I prayed. I prayed to God that you will forgive me, that all of you will accept me back. I promise that I will be good. In fact I so detest the money I could eat the money! Please sis, please father, please take me back, please accept me as a member of the family again".

Hor Ma looked at everybody, looking grim.

At the motel, Hou and everybody broke down the door and saw money crumpled everywhere and Auntie Sa hiding underneath the cover of the bed, making horrible crying noise. Hou pulled the cover and everyone was shocked to see Auntie Sa with a mouthful of money! Hor Ma asked what she was doing and Auntie Sa tearfully said "I am trying to eat the money" and grandpa I think asked "Did you eat any? Let's go to the hospital" and Auntie Sa cried "I didn't! I couldn't! The money tasted funny! Not edible at all!!" and she cried and cried and the gang just looked at her, finding her rather silly. Ka Mei sat next to her and gently said "Mother, let's go home. Grandpa has forgiven you, let's pack" and Auntie Sa beamed at the news.

The gang continued to plan for holiday and AUntie Sa made suggestions but Cho Ba pushed her away. At the holiday with Sum included, poor Auntie Sa was made to do BBQ, carry stuff, etc. She tried to do her best but she was ignored. Let's put it this way; they're still punishing her and frankly she deserved it. Anyway she overheard Hor Ma talking to Kelvin's mom who told Hor Ma she saw how Hung slapped her. Sa was angry.

Ka and Yuet and Ka Mei were on a yatch doing some promo stuff. Ka Mei sat alone looking sad and Ka asked her what's the problem and she said "I have a secret, you swear never to tell anyone, because it is so embarassing. I have a huge ugly tattoo on my upper thigh..." and Ka saw the tattoo says "Ka Mei loves ---". Can't remember the name but it was a girl's name. Ka shocked asks "You're in love with a girl?!" and Ka Mei says "No no, I was 12, she was 15 and my nanny. I really admired her and loved her as my sister and so encouraged by her I tattoed that ugly thing. Since then, eventhough I love swimming I would never wear a swimsuit! My greatest regret!" and Ka could only try to suppress his amusement...

At the office, Ka Mei took Ka away for lunch, leaving Yuet to work alone, much to Yuet's displeasure. But Ka took Ka Mei to the beach (with the dirtiest looking sand ever) and they ended up chatting. Ka showed Ka Mei the bite marks Yuet gave him and Ka Mei looked jealous.

OI! YUET IS SISTER OK?! What's to feel jealous about?!

Anyway, Ka said "Like this bitemark on my arm it is a thing in the past. Don't be too hung up on that, we move on" and so they went swimming happily together whilst Yuet waited for Ka to come back to work and never did.

Meanwhile Hung wanted to resign together with 16 top executives. Yuen asked "Mother, how can this be? Like this we might as well close the company!" and Cho Ba said "We are married and we sleeps on the same bed. Can't you discuss this with me first? Must you be so hard hearted? I too worked in the company, I too worked hard for it but recently I am only in semi retirement" and guess who spoke? That nosy female relative, grandma's sis who loudly said "I can't stand it anymore! I am a woman too and I know how Hung is feeling. Cho, you're always at the thing's place, spending 3 times a week there. Have you forgotten who is your wife? It is like now you have a mistress, the only difference is the mistress is your ex wife!" and even the son said "Cho, you know you're wrong to treat Hung like this!" and Cho Ba so angry "You ungrateful bastard! I don't know how much someone here paid you to say these things but if you're so unhappy here, you're free to move. Go pack your bags now!" and the son loudly said "I already knew I would have to move after I said the truth!" and the mother went on and on how pitiful Hung was and Hung listened red eyed when grandma said "You shut up! This is none of your business!" and the mother said "Sis Cho may be wrong but you're the worst! Remember in the past you use to call me out for tea and you always complained about that thing and said you wished she was dead? What happened now? What has changed? All of a sudden you like her so much?" and grandma said "You shut up!" and she continued "I know why. You yourself don't have a husband, you're jealous of people's happiness. When Cho was with that thing, you hated her and broke them apart. Now Cho is happy with Hung, you're doing the same thing! You're such a manipulative selfish bitch who can't bear people being happy!!" and grandma was so angry she said "You...you...I have taken care of you all your life and this is how you repay me?!" and she almost fainted and Cho Ba went to her and angrily said "You two LEAVE NOW!" and when they walked Hung said "This is also my house. No one leaves without my permission! You two can stay!" and so they sat down and begin to eat as Cho Ba took grandma away and grandma crying "You ungrateful bitch! You.. what have I done to have you as my sister?!".

Interestingly Cho Ba and grandma didn't leave the house. WHY? Isn't this the best time to leave??

Sa received a call from the nosy relatives to meet with Hung. They met at the restaurant and the nosy relative immediately said "We will give you $200,000-00 if you will spy on Cho on our behalf. Report everything he did over that side" and Sa considered and said "That sum is too low.. give me $300,000-00 and I can reveal something shocking right now" and Hung interested said "Ok, show me" and so Sa opened her handphone and said "There are 10 scandalous pictures in here, see this..." and it was an unmade bed. Curious Hung asked to see the 2nd, which is a crumpled money and then they looked at the 3rd picture which was the cross (church). They asked "What's that?" and Auntie Sa exploded "THAT IS MY PROMISE TO GOD THAT I SHALL NEVER BETRAY MY SISTER AGAIN!! You think I really love money that much? I have my dignity! I hate money! I hate you! You Hung, you fox demon! How dare you ask me to betray my sister? Who do you think I am?!" and Hung left as Sa scolded her "YOU DEVIL WOMAN!! YOU DEVIL WOMAN!!" in English by the way and Sa slept Hung and there was a scuffled and Sa pushed nosy relative woman who pushed Hung who fell down on the escalator and fainted. Sa panicked, ran.

As Hung was semi concious on the way to hospital, Hung told nosy relative "Tell the police it was Sa who pushed me".

Hou received a call from Cho Ba who told them what happened. When Auntie Sa came home panicked begging for help, they all abandoned her because they believed Hung's lies that Auntie Sa asked to see Hung and asked for money in exchange for 10 scandalous pictures. Sa was so scared she admitted it all but couldn't explain herself. When the police came, grandpa and everyone immediately pointed to Sa and Sa spent a night in a police cell crying.

I felt they were all so heartless at that point. Auntie Sa may be bad but their attitude were worse. How can they trust Hung and abandon Auntie Sa? They should unite in their for Hung and not Sa.

Anyway Cho Ba sat next to a sleeping Hung when Hor Ma called and Cho Ba told Hor Ma, who was on a vacation with Kelvin's mom in Korea and though we don't hear Hor Ma speaking, we hear Cho Ba saying "Hor, no need to come back. There is nothing to investigate. Just enjoy your vacation. You don't need to trouble yourself with that trouble maker".

Hor Ma is the only decent person in this series. She actually questioned if Sa did what she was accused of!

Anyway Hung heard it all and pretended to sleep. When Cho Ba sat by her she woke up and the police asked her if Sa asked her for money and Hung said "No, it was just a business transaction like any other" and when police asked if Sa pushed her down like the relatives said and Hung said "No, she didn't. It was an accident". Even Cho Ba was surprised and Hung tearfully said "You think that of me? Why do you think the worst of me? I am telling the truth as it is. She didn't push me and that's the truth! Cho, remember all those years ago where we secretly dated? Then how we worked together to get our first shop going? I miss those years. I have been so caught up with jealousy and anger, I have forgotten why I was angry in the first place. I shouldn't have put out those resignation letters. I shouldn't have acted so impulsively. I don't want to lose you Cho, just promise me you won't go visiting Hor everytime I promise I will be patient. I am willing to do anything so you would return to my side. Cho, I can't lose you, I love you too much!" and Cho Ba touched by what she said cried and hugged her in return.

I must admit, Hung did for better or for worse went through 12 years of life with Cho Ba. She did contributed to his life and business. She actually said more but I just couldn't remember word for word.

Next episode, Cho Ba and Hung marries again but the children are angry Cho Ba gave them invitation cards.

My problem with this silly part is why are the children so hung up on that? I mean to be fair to Hung, Cho Ba is her husband now and why they keep insisting on a reconciliation when even Hor Ma never expected that? I think Cho Ba inviting his ex to his wedding is not unreasonable, I thought that's how it should be. Moreover, 12 years have passed for god's sake.

Anyway this episode I really pity Auntie Sa. I felt everyone was terrible to her and they owe her an apology. I was thinking she may betray Hor Ma again but she didn't. The two relatives are so annoying! For money they're willing to sell their souls. Grandma was right to be so upset. And when will Cho Ba leave? This is getting like such a long soap opera.

Performance wise, I won't comment much except on Michelle Yim who is in top form even if a bit redundant in the evil department (not yet truly despicable). However one person shone and it was Susanna Kwan. She really made this Sa character like such an aweful despicable woman! She deserves an award for this, not Michelle Yim! What a fantastic all out performance!

Anyway I am in a hurry so I will just comment that much. More in the next episode.
