Episode 07

Finally! Finally the scene I was hoping to see, in fact in comes in 2 scenes with regards to the children's opinion of the spineless Cho Ba. Anyway on with the recap first...

Hor Ma was so worried about Ka that she asked Cho Ba to meet her. Cho Ba said to Hor Ma "I was thinking of asking Yuet and Hing to come work at the company, I can introduce them" but Hor Ma explained they already got good jobs and are happy and Cho Ba unhappily said "Those children. They don't tell me anything anymore!". Anyway Hor Ma voiced her worries about Ka, that he seems disinterested in work other than just gamble in shares and "I am so worried about Ka" and she blamed Cho Ba and of course Hung but Cho Ba, arrogant and perhaps a bit egoistical and refused to admit he screwed up ended up arguing with her, as if life was happy, that Ka is a university graduate, everybody sells and buys shares, what Ka is doing is just fine, as if Hung was the best stepmother in the world and Hor Ma angrily said "YOu have abandoned your wife, do not abandone your children!" and Cho Ba angrily said "See! Everytime we talk you ended up talking and I have to listen. It is always about you!" and Hor Ma was so angry she said "Happy family? How happy to have one son treating your house like some rented room, another so compliant that he has nothing much to say and our youngest son, so quiet and always talking about how unhappy he is. Is that your idea of a good happy family? You seriously think you did a good job? That Hung didn't sobotage the siblings?" and Cho Ba raised his voice accusing Hor Ma of being difficult to Hung who has the most difficult job and Hor Ma was so angry she just ended the meeting with just some really angry words "Cho pretend all you want that everything is fine! You're not only in denial, you're hurting your children. Listen if you will and ignore if you want, I have said what I wanted to say!" and so she left and Cho Ba flustered.

Bastard.

But Cho Ba does listen. In fact he went home and spoke with grandma about asking Ka coming back into the business to help and even grandma was convinced Hung will offer Ka a good position as "Hung loves the boys like her own, I am sure she will look out for Ka's interest". Cho Ba was happy that he has an ally and he even said he was planning a birthday party to celebrate Sum's birthday. He in fact bought her a car! And whilst he danced with Hung he said to smiling Hung "You know, Ka says he is not happy with his work. He wants to come home and join the business. Why not give him a position?" and Hung smiled and said "I am more than happy he will come back! Finally! I will make some arrangements" but as Cho Ba was happily hugging Hung thinking he was right and everyone was wrong about Hung, Hung may smile but her eyes darkened.

Cho Ba is just so stupid, blinded or maybe just so into his own fantasy world that Hung is the best of the best of the best. Hung wouldn't give her business to his sons, most of all the one who sides with Hor Ma! And even Ka thought so...

Cho Ba met with Ka and Yuet. He told Ka "Ka you come home to help with the business" and Ka was like "WHAT?! Why should I?" and Cho Ba said "YOu're my eldest son. THe business is gonna be yours one day anyway. Moreover instead of working for others as some manager earning a pittance, come home and be a "tai chi yeh" (translates to rich man's son). Ka said "Cho Ba, you do know Auntie Hung won't allow it" and Cho Ba said "Who said so? She was very happy to know you're coming back. Moreover Ka you were always to rude to her, giving her grievances and insulting her. Not only did she not put that all in heart, she is also thinking about what position to give you. Come back Ka, tonight for dinner, we all discuss" and Yuet said "Ka, so I cancel your appointment with --- (can't remember the name)?" and Ka said "No, it is on at 9pm" and Cho Ba angrily said "How can you possibly have dinner and meet this person at 9pm?" and Yuet enquired "SO I call?" and Ka said "No no no. Confirm it, I can make it".

At night during dinner at the mansion, Hung was especially nice to Ka and offered to take for him his favourite chicken and Ka was even nicer and offered back. Cho Ba happily said "Ka, how's work?" and Ka said "Not very good, like usual" and Cho Ba said "Well Ka, Auntie Hung said you should come back. In fact I think you should learn the business, let Auntie Hung teach you the ropes. What do you say Ka?" and Ka was busy chewing his chicken and I think it was Cho Bo asked Ka whether he had any plans for the company in mind and Ka was busy explaining the business and how to expand it when Hung smilingly said "I am more than happy with you coming back Ka. But I believe you should start small, perhaps the manager in that store we have atv ---- (can't remember the location)". Ka shut up and everyone even Yuen looked suprised and grandma looked offended and Cho Ba said "But Hung, that shop is so small. It is one of our smallest branch and it has only 4 workers. Ka is used to having 10 or more staff under him, don't you think that is a bit unbefitting of his status, moreover he is my eldest son" and Ka nodded and Hung said "Well he must learn from the bottom if not people will say I favour him" and grandma said "Hung I rarely question your decisions when it comes to the business nor do I know how to run a business but listen to me. If you do that people will say you're a bad step mother" and Hung laughed and said "Mother I am prepared for such labels. I already have the bad stepmother label etched into my forehead for all to see! Remember when Yuen first started out? He made a mistake and I scolded him in front of all staff. That was how he learned from his mistake" and I think it was Cho Ba who said "But Hung Yuen was 18 then. Still young. Ka is 30 now. It is not appropriate for him to start so small" and grandma quickly said "Hung, listen to me. I know --- is retiring soon. Let Ka takeover his position as assistant general manager of the company, let him be by your side and learn from you. Ok? See, all settled!" and Cho Ba said to Ka "Thank Auntie Hung Ka!" and Ka was about to say something when Hung said "Mother you know I respect you and I do listen to you but this time I can't. Ka must start small, only then he can learn" and grandma and Cho Ba both looked very unhappy and Cho ba said to Ka "Ka, stop chewing your piece of chicken. Talk to Auntie Hung, ask her for a higher position!" and Ka received a call and he said "Ok ok meet you at 9pm!" and he said to Cho Ba "Cho Ba, I have to go. Go to meet someone!" and before he left he sweetly said to Hung "Auntie HUng, I must say thank you for your deep concern and sincere teaching for me as a mother, what difficult job a mother such as yourself has. Here AUntie Hung, have another piece of chicken for your effort" and he left. Hung smiled, but she knew she was just insulted.

Ka really had the best comeback line!

Anyway next day Ka was busy with his share market observing device thing in hand and Yuet said "How dare they suggest that to you? You shouldn't place yourself in any difficulty with that woman!" and Ka continued with his share market stuff and Yuet was scolding him "Hor MA will not be happy to see this! Aren't you worried your boss would fire you?" and Ka laughed and said "NO WAY! She won't!" and Yuet asked "Why? What made you so sure?" and Ka laughed and said "Didn't you see the way she looks at me? Yuet, she is secretly in love with me, for 2 years now!" and Yuet was surprised (I wasn't as she was the most patient boss) and so Ka was slowly walking away when he turned and saw Cho Ba! "Cho Ba what are you doing here?" and Cho Ba said "Well I couldn't call you, left messages and you didn't reply so here I am looking for you. Ka I have been thinking. Perhaps your Auntie Hung is right. You start small, I know the salary is low so I will pay you in secret every month to supplement your income. What say you?" and Ka was so frustrated he said "Cho Ba you aren't listening! You are not only deaf but you are turning blind! Don't you get it? That woman won't let me join the company! Isn't that obvious?" and Cho Ba said "What that woman that woman. That woman is Auntie Hung! Ka listen.." but Ka said he had things to do so he ran away. Yuet walked right up to Cho Ba and said "Cho Ba, don't you see? She is not helping us but are tearing us apart. That woman is a vile manipulative woman!" and Cho Ba angrily and stubbornly said "Yuet it is not in your position to make comments about my family!". Yuet looked hurt. Cho Ba obviously considered her an outsider, more than grandpa did. But Yuet continued "Cho Ba, remember before she came into our life, Hor Ma, you and all of us were so happy. What happened Cho Ba? Why let that woman destroy our happiness? She is doing all she can to keep us all apart!" and Cho Ba angrily said "Look, Hung has been a great mother to your brothers, she has acted in their best interest and her actions has been nothing but examplary!" and Yuet tearfully and in disbelief asked "Is that what you really think Cho Ba? That she was that great? That she divided the sons by spoiling one, ignoring the other and sending one far away, you consider her a good mother?" and Cho Ba defiantly said "YES! and I will refuse to speak to you anymore on this subject. You're crazy!" and so Cho Ba left and Yuet was very hurt by what Cho Ba said.

Meanwhile, bad nes to Hou and gang. Auntie Sa is backkkkkkk!

And what did she did first thing? "Oh I wanted to stay in the hotel but thought well better be with family! Right sis? Kids, help Auntie Sa will ya, and take all those luggae up! Be careful, expensive stuff inside!!" and so the children that is Hou, Hing and Yuet became kuli for the night.

At home, Hor Ma asked AUntie Sa "How come you return so early? Did you lose the case?" and Auntie Sa said "There were tears, big loud tears, but don't worry sis, not me! I made that bastard cried! And the judge awarded me half his fortune! That is $4 million!!" and Hor Ma didn't know whether to laugh or cry and Yuet immediately said "So you can now repay grandpa?" and Auntie Sa ignored her and said "Sis I have decided. I must not just live on these money. I must make some investment and so I have decided to invest $1million in your shop! We can sell even cakes, cookies and buns!" and Hou said "But we don't do that!" and Hor Ma said "Well Sa that is your money and we are a small shop" and Auntie Sa said "Sis the shop is half mine anyway! Let me invest, I promise I won't bother you in the business but I will expand it!" and Hor Ma thought for awhile as she saw Hou, Hing and Yuet quietly mimed "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO" but Hor Ma said "Well, it is hard work and you must be involved and be active in the shop" and Auntie Sa promised she will be.

Next day in the shop, Auntie Sa suddenly came in and said "Sis I am here! See who I brought?" and Hor Ma saw she brought 3 former workers whose names I forgot. There was an old guy who Auntie Sa got from Macau and 2 women. Auntie Sa said "I hired them! Since we are expanding we need more workers!" and Hou was like "But you didn't tell us Auntie Sa" and Auntie Sa said "I am the biggest shareholder here, I don't need to tell you such nitty gritty stuff right?" and Hor Ma quietly said "Ok, work hard everyone" and she said to Hou "You take care of the shop".

Hor Ma was going to China I think to seek treatment for her bad back and Hou was busy organizing the 4000 pieces of biscuits order from previous episode. As Hou helped Hor Ma into the van Hou asked "Hor Ma why didn't you say something about what Auntie Sa did?" and Hor Ma patiently explained "Hou she is your auntie. Give her a chance, maybe she has some good ideas. Anyway take good care of the shop and finish the order whilst I am gone" and Hou promised.

Meanwhile Hou helped Sum organize the old folks home event and had a great time singing.

I suppose Hor Ma went for a few days. Anyway Hor Ma came back and asked Hou how was the order and Hou said "Hor Ma I was busy helping SUm with the event. I suppose the orders are ok" and Hor Ma went into the kitchen with Hou who also said Auntie Sa bought 2 new oven. Hor Ma saw Auntie Sa who happily said "Sis! I bought 2 new oven! We are really expanding!" and they all followed her into the kitchen, she was the old man and the biscuits, took one and took a bite, took another and took a bite and she then said to the old man "You made all these?" and the old man happily said yes and Hor Ma said "Ok, pack your stuff, go to front, I will pay your balance salary and you may leave" and Auntie Sa was very surprised and Nin Chi Yung just looked on quietly whilst the old man shocked asked "Hor Ma why are you dismissing me just like that?" and Hor Ma explained "I know your reputation. You were fired from your previous job. Why? Where did you buy the bean paste? Let me tell you where, from ---. That shop is famous for recycling the paste from unsold pastries and not only is this unhygenic and unhealthy, the taste of the paste is bland. You can lie to everyone but you can't lie to me. One bite and I knew" and Auntie Sa tried to interrupt but Hor Ma said "So please pack your stuff. I don't have my cheque with me. You come by tomorrow to collect your cheque" but the man was very angry and said "Hor Ma, I quit my job in Macau and rented a room here! Now you just dismissed me?" and Hor Ma explained "For the sake of my customers and the good name of my shop, I must fire you" and the man now beyond angry shouted "Hor Ma, remember when you fell sick and I, it was I who carried you to the hospital for several blocks! Is that how you repay my kindness?! Well people will call you heartless!!" and Hor Ma this time angry shouted "Yes! Yes I am heartless and I am prepared for people to call me that. In fact you may call me that in front of everybody, go ahead, spread the news that I am heartless. But in my good conscience I could not and would not retain you in my shop! Now go!" and the man threw the apron on the table and angrily left.

Then Hor Ma walked to one of the ladies that was hired and asked her "How many did you make today?" and the lady gave a number and Hor Ma said "I know you are capable of making twice that number. I also know you are always sneaking off from work, complaining of bad back, hand hurts, sickness, tiredness when you and I both know you're plain lazy. There can be no gain without hard work. Remember that" and the lady looked ashamed and said "I understand Hor Ma. I will meet the number, I am sorry Hor Ma" and she walked away.

Auntie Sa wanted to say something when Hor Ma called Nin Chi Yung and angrily asked him "Nin Chi Yung, didn't I tell you to look after the kitchen and the shop before I left?" and Nin Chi Yung said "Yes" and Hor Ma then angrily asked "Then why didn't you stop these pastries from being made? You're a master at this, you know the paste used is bad quality, you know she was being lazy, why didn't you say something?" and Nin Chi Yung said "I did. I told Auntie Sa but she didn't do anything so I figured if she is the boss and she isn't doing anything, so who am I to intervene?" and Hor Ma angrily and quite unsually loud (as if to let someone hear and that someone is Auntie Sa) "Why... when you were criticising me, I have never heard you spoke louder but now about these incidents you became so quiet? Nin Chi Yung, how many times have I told you, you're not just a worker here. Didn't I tell you that? Haven't I treat you like one of my own sons or are you not happy with the way I treat you? Have I ever treat you like a mere worker?" and Nin Chi Yung said "No of course not Hor Ma" and Hor Ma continued "Nin Chi Yung, you're not just a worker here! You're like my own son, and when I ask you to take good care of this shop, you must take good care of this shop, all of it! Understood?" and Nin Chi Yung looked at Hor Ma and said "Yes Hor Ma I understand. I will from now on take good care of this shop" and Hor Ma smiled and said "Good" and Auntie Sa didn't look too happy.

What Hor Ma actually did wasn't really scolding Nin Chi Yung but actually used this indirect way to remind Auntie Sa who is actually running the shop in her absence and that would be Nin Chi Yung. It is also to remind Nin Chi Yung when she is not around, or even Hou, the immediate boss is then him. Nin Chi Yung of course understood but I am sure Auntie Sa must have bullied him into submission and so with this very loud declaration, Nin Chi Yung just became the shop's manager!It also speaks volume that Hor Ma trust Nin Chi Yung more than Auntie Sa. Anyway that old man was crazy. How can he expect Hor Ma to repay his kindness by turning a blind eye to his very obvious bribery and also substandard work? Hor Ma was right to dismiss him as she Nin Chi Yung years before except back then Nin Chi Yung made her life difficult by being lazy but not quite as malicious. That lady was plain lazy so Hor Ma forgave her.

Back at home AUntie Sa at dinner happily suggested making cakes, etc and Hor Ma sternly said "Sa, your idea of buns and pastries are workable but all those cakes and such, I am afraid I won't allow them to be sold in the shop. Doesn't fit into the shop's concept" and Auntie Sa immediately said "But these are good ideas! I am the main shareholder!" and Hor Ma said "Which I would very much appreciate if you leave the running of the shop to me" and Grandpa said "Sa! Listen to your sister! She has been running the shop for so long, she knows what she is saying!" and Auntie Sa frustrated said "So what am I supposed to do?" and grandpa said "Well you can promote the shop, market the products since you're so good at marketing!" and I think it was either Hor Ma or grandpa who said "True Sa, you can go to those bridal expo and market our products!" and Auntie Sa giving up said "Fine! I will now only do marketing! Are you happy? I just lost my appetite" and so she left the table but whispered quite loudly "You are such a dictator!" but everyone saluted Hor Ma and Hor Ma smiled widely.

Good one Hor Ma!!

Anyway Hou and Sum were in Sum's car returning from somewhere, I may have mixed up this scene in terms of timeline, and they were busy poking fun at one another and since HK is so small, obviously who should see them but dear nosy relatives from the other side. Hung was informed that they were dating one another and Hung not happy at all complained to Cho Ba and Cho Ba said "No way! They were close as children, like siblings" but Hung urged him to talk to Hou and so Cho Ba agreed.

Cho Ba met up with Hou and directly said to Hou "Hou, are you planning to woo Sum?" and Hou laughed and said "Cho Ba, no! Where did you hear that?" and Cho Ba said "Hou, listen to me. Sum is not your type. She is a doctor and you're a.. she will hurt you, so to avoid that don't be silly and don't even think about wooing her" and Hou seriously asked Cho Ba "Who told you that?" and Cho Ba didn't say anything and Hou knew and said "It was that woman? She told you?" and Cho Ba said "Don't call her that woman! She is AUntie Hung!" and Hou said "Cho Ba are you happy with her? Seriously as compared to the times we were together with Hor Ma?" and Cho Ba put on his ego shield again and defiantly said "Of course! What is not to be happy about? I have a big business, money, reputation, my family around me" and Hou sarcastically said "Family? What family? Our family is broken apart by that woman! Cho Ba, you can't seriously say you weren't happy with Hor Ma?" and Cho Ba defiantly said "I wasn't happy. This is my happiest now! I am very happy!" and Hou angrily said "Cho Ba, listen to yourself! You mean when you had us all, that can't be compared to now?" and Cho Ba said "What? Was I happier when we all had to shut off the air cond to save money? That we were so poor? Are you happy Hou? Look at your job, what you're doing. A delivery boy, that's what you are! A mere delivery boy!!" and Hou angrily said "But I am happy, at least when I finish work, when Hing and Yuet finished work, we all rush home to have dinner with Hor Ma and grandpa. What about yours? As far as I know, none of them rush back to your house to have dinner with you! You call that happiness?! It's that woman Cho Ba! She ruined it all! How can you call into her trap? She deliberately staged a suicide to seduce you back! I know you broke up with her to give Hor Ma another chance but she used dirty tricks to get you! Don't you see? She is manipulative and vile! She is not acting in anybody's best interest but herself!" and Cho Ba stuttered at the revelation and said "Hou, that was not what happened, that was not how it happened. Hung was good to me, she was good to your brothers!" and quickly he walked away and as he walked away he kept saying "You're turning out just like your mother! Of all the qualities you can learn you learn all that negativity from Hor Ma! How stupid! How silly! How crazy! You all don't know anything! I AM HAPPY! I AM THE HAPPIEST!!!" and Hou looked on in disbelief.

If someone has a need to justify so many things to someone else about their state of happiness, my theory is they aren't really that happy. Cho Ba I doubt has any position in the family. He may not realise it now but he will soon. Anyway, I am surprised he dismissed Hou's revelation about the whole fake suicide thing so did Cho Ba knew? If he knew he is even worse human being than I thought. Anyway I don't like the way the script kept saying the woman stopped THREE sons from seeing Hor Ma, etc etc when we all know Ka seems to go back to have dinner with Hor Ma more frequently now. In fact I think he rarely even eats at Cho Ba's place. Also hate that even Cho Ba his own father seems to think HOu is not good enough for Sum. Talk about father of the year...

Anyway, Hor Ma was in the shop when suddenly Auntie Sa and grandpa were outside holding a big shop name plate and once revealed it was the name "Ka Hou Yuet Yuen". Hor Ma was shocked and asked what was that and Auntie Sa said it was time to put back the shop's name and Hor Ma reminded them not to make any more trouble but grandpa said "This time I agree! I agree with Sa! I was so stupid to give the name away, a name I created when I was selling just underneath the stairs so many decades before. This time I won't take everything sitting down. I will fight them for my name!" and Hor Ma was helpless to do anything...

Hung was not pleased with what she found out and grandma made a conclusion that the fat one couldn't let go of the past, must keep all for herself so Hung said "Cho, you go talk to that woman. If I were to talk to her, I am afraid we would both end up arguing" and so Cho agreed.

But Cho Ba met with grandpa instead as he said "Father I have always respected you and I find it easier to talk to you than Hor. Father, I heard Hor used back the name Ka Hou Yuet Yuen..." and grandpa said "It was I who insists" and Cho Ba slyly said "BUt father it was agreed you won't use the name. Our company is a big company and if you insist on using that name, we can sue you for breach of trademark and you may go to jail! That is the law father.." and hell hath no fury than an old man with pent up anger with a daughter ditched! Grandpa unleashed his anger and shouted "You all cheated me! I shouldn't have surrendered the name to you when you were divorcing Hor. You said in exchange you will let me see my grandsons once a week but now? Now we only meet once a year, and we can't even have dinner on the 15th day of the 8th month and had to eat on the 16th! You broke your promise, so I want my shop's name back!" and now the people in the restaurant were listening intently and Cho Ba said "Let's not talk about the past! Moreover the boys are big. The 3 could come to see you, it was their choice not too!" but grandpa wasn't finished and he stood up and grabbed Cho Ba and angrily said "My wife once told me not to trust you! She said you are not trustworthy, a useless spineless piece of garbage but when I saw how pitiful you were, I took you on as my employee. I even let my daughter marry you and because of my stupidity I have ruined my Ah Hor's life! You piece of garbage! You left your wife and divided your children, you heartless man who calls my daughter fat and so decided to leave her to be with the hour glass figured fox! You useless bastard! You ruined my daughter's life!!" and as he said it he kept shaking a rather shaken Cho Ba who quickly left and grandpa had to be held by the customers who advised him to sit down and take a breath although the were with grandpa and together criticised the heartless bastard who just ran away.

I hate it when Cho Ba kept saying 3 sons, 3 sons when Ka obviously doesn't even bother with what Hung and gang says and do go home quite regularly now.

Next episode, grandpa won't take it lying down anymore and wants to sue to get back the shop's name and of course Hung will gladly meet him in court. I believe Auntie Sa must have said something.

Anyway if there is one usefulness to Auntie Sa, she is fearless when she feels it is right. My sis who was watching this with me asked why they all want to fight now about the name when they didn't before and my conclusion is they were too submissive before, especially grandpa for the sake of the grandchildren but when someone is bullied so often, at some point that pent up frustration will burst and so comes the anger and hatred. I feel grandpa was right in pursuing his right in court. Cho Ba did cheated him and the name change and name use was based on an unfulfilled performance by one side. I feel grandpa has legal standing but I wonder in TVB world will he win? Let's just watch on and I will comment more on this.

I don't think I have ever seen Chow Chung so emotional that I thought he was having a heart attack in that final scene! Fantastic scene by the way. For the first time since 5 episodes, Cho Ba got scolded by Ka, Hou, Yuet, Hor Ma and now grandpa! Almost everyone! And he deserved every bit of it! He was terrible, reminded me of some spineless idiot. I am sure he must know he wasn't happy because he just kept saying he was happy. It was all pride talk I tell you. My favourite scene however is the one between Hor Ma and Nin Chi Yung, the way she scolded him to get at Auntie Sa. I also love equally that parting insult that Ka gave to Hung. Classic! In fact I think I like that more!

Performance wise, Chow Chung did well although well he is not the greatest actor but he does well in good grandfather roles. I thought his outburst was very believable.

Har Yu was also a standout, especially with the way he pursed his lips and kept saying I AM HAPPY! I AM HAPPY! What a despicable man and since he delivered the message, I believe Har Yu must be commended for giving us such a despicable performance. I think I hate him more than Hung right now because he is supposed to be a man, to take charge and instead he made a mess of everything and I think he knew it. He just didn't like hearing his failures and faults from Hor Ma. When you dislike someone, whatever they say, even compliments will sound like backhanded insults. I feel that's how he feels about Hor Ma.

Tavia did well in that scene with Cho Ba when Cho Ba said please do not interfere with MY family matters, there was hurt in her eyes. Subtlety is good since Tavia has a tendency to be very emotional physically in emotional scenes but I feel she operates best when she is still and just deliver with such nuance substlety. Like in Land Of Wealth (I think that's the one, with Moses and Steven) which apart from the one with Bowie Lam as Fong Nga Chai (can't remember the title!!) which was her breakthrough role, Land Of Wealth was to me her best performance todate. True!

Raymond Lam was wonderful especially his outburst at Cho Ba. Well written, dialogue very believable and at last some anger at the father who didn't do his duty. I want more of those.

Wayne Lai was great. I think I can just cut and paste my comments of Wayne Lai from now on since it is same same same. I love his scenes with Lee Sze Kei, the chemistry (like mother and son lar!), the banter, the way he looked at her and the way she speaks to him. Fantastic scene, fantastic performance. Can we just have a series with Lee Sze Kei as Wayne Lai's mother? I am sure it will be a great performance by both.

Fala is still cute and sweet but not much role tonight.

Susanna Kwan is despicable but not that terrible as compared to Michelle Yim or Har Yu. Har Yu is cowardly despicable, Michelle Yim is vile manipulative controlling despicable whilst Susanna is those very easy to figure out loud despicable. Great scene between her and Lee Sze Kei at the dinner table. But Auntie Sa is still as irritating. I am still wondering, who is her daughter??? And did she really win half the fortune? I thought she would come back poor. That would teach her a lesson.

Moses Chan deserves a mention for his wonderful performance tonight. His character definitely has the best lines thus far and his insult at Hung was classic. What I like is the way he behaved at the dinner table; just chewing his chicken, answered when asked and knew it was all just a show. His Ka seems so relaxed and happy go lucky and unconcerned when in actual fact he is concerned and he knows what is going on. He probably knows Hung more than Cho Ba does. Moses Chan definitely upped the joker element to good effect. I also like seeing him spending increasing time with Hor Ma's side and like Hor Ma said, he treats the other home as a hotel. Since he is 30, why can't he move out or move back in with Hor Ma?

Lee Heung Kam is really playing those typical spoilt grandma to the hilt. Love her expression when michelle said Moses can't have the job she wanted him to do. Suddenly all black.

Chris Lai's role is sit down, look surprised and then can go home. No role at all.

Now Lee Sze Kei was in top form tonight. She definitely held this series together and whilst I doubted whether she can play angry or even quarrel, I am most impressed with her performance thus far. She plays Hor MA in such a calm loving way and quite bullied too but when required she will fight for her children. She is to me a very realisticly portrayed mother that I have seen and encountered personally. I find Hor Ma such a dignified character and wise too. I just find her dialogue all very realistic and well written and more importantly well performed and well delivered. Mothers are mostly like Hor Ma believe it or not and I believe fathers are like Cho Ba. Mistresses maybe not quite like Hung.

Michelle Yim is first and foremost beautiful. That woman hardly aged even with so many close ups. 50s right? Anyway her nuanced performance as the deceptively quiet and slyly smiling Hung is really worth a mention but nope, at this point she has yet to unleash her evilness!

Who are those 2 nosy relatives by the way? Are they cousins on the side of Cho Ba??

Anyway I believe Lee Sze Kei won favourite performance award for Heart Of Greed right? And Michelle Yim for this series? Frankly, Lee Sze Kei should have won for this performance. This was so much better than that insipid and insanely happy then angry and very loud and noisy Heart Of Greed,

Between the two, Heart Of Greed begins to look like a poor cousin of this series. I know the love stories may kill my mood but I am sure my love for the others will conquer all... I hope.

I made the mistake of reading some online summaries and already someone complained to me that the idea of Sum and Hou is almost incestious since she calls grandma grandma and such but I feel she is not Cho Ba's daughter and is of different surname, that is ok. Then I read one sibling will fall for Yuet, who is considered child of the family. How can that NOT be incestous in nature? Oh My God! I shouldn't have read the summaries. This kinda spoil it all. It is like soap opera, and they can't marry. If in Malaysia an adopted child can't marry say the brother, more so in Chinese culture that frowns upon even first cousins marrying. Though biologically they're not related, birth certs and feelings say so! How can this series turn that way and go Korean on us all? How can you call one person SIS SIS or BRO BRO and suddenly one day be having sex with one another? WHY DID I READ THAT STUPID SUMMARY!! SICK SICK SICK!!!
